Distractions
We're thinking about the nation more than the station but we think about the latter as a kind of vacation
Press Coverage
The latest KDHX Board of Directors meeting was held on Monday, and as usual, those interested could watch via Zoom. With new directors Courtney Dowdall and Kip Loui, as well as Ron Butts and Tamika Harvey attending for the first time, it was possible to wonder if there would be a new dynamic. Maybe a little, but with President Gary Pierson absent, this meeting was even more of a Kelly Wells show than usual. Anybody who has ever been involved with any other non-profit Board of Directors, or even with this one in the before times, has to be astounded at the way this group runs things. There are no committees, little to no involvement from most members, and the Manager of the station tells the Board more than the other way around.
Anyway, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch published a story based on watching this meeting which denies the rosy picture Wells attempted to paint about the station financials. Entitled, “KDHX fundraiser adds little to its coffers. Executive Director calls it ‘succesful,’” the story is written by Daniel Neman who has been following the station since the troubles began last year. Saying that Wells said their two-month fundraising goal was $50,000, Neman says: “Even so, $62,000 collected over two months does not appear to be nearly enough to keep the non-commercial station going.”
We take no joy in agreeing with this fact, and certainly no joy in saying, “Kelly Wells, we told you so.” But Kelly Wells, we told you so.

We’ve started up some playlists on Spotify and YouTube which will give you a chance to hear the music some of us used to play on KDHX. One includes the songs Chris Lawyer played on his final show, and the other is a fun collection of songs picked by Brian Long he calls Only Murders in the Ballad. We’ll have more coming up in the future. Enjoy!
