We had barely sent out the newsletter this morning before news broke of the latest abominable move by KDHX management and the Board of Directors. So, here’s a short update.
Kip Loui Resigns
Sarah Fenske published a story on the St. Louis magazine website today telling us that Kip Loui, one of two Directors appointed to the Board in a settlement of the lawsuit based on our legal election held in September of 2023, resigned after being suspended from the Board for reasons not detailed.
Loui and Courtney Dowdall were both suspended as soon as the last Board meeting went into Executive Session, quickly leaving behind the hearts and flowers of the open Zoom portion of the meeting. They were told that “unspecified actions on their part had opened the board to liability.” Never mind that Gary Pierson, Kelly Wells, and their lackeys on the Board have themselves committed dozens of actions opening the Board to liability.
Kip Loui posted on Facebook a letter he had written to his fellow Board members calling for leadership change in order to save the station financially before its too late. He did not receive a single reply to his e-mail from any of the recipients. As usual, Wells and Pierson are unwilling to consider any viewpoints other than their own beliefs that they have done nothing wrong.
Letter to the Editor
Earlier today, a letter to the editor was published in The St. Louis Post-Dispatch in which Board member Ray Finney complains that coverage in the paper had ignored context when Kelly Wells talked about fundraising achievements. He says about the slash and burn programming arrangement of the station:“These changes have infused the station with new energy, fresh purpose, and a renewed joy in our programming.” It never seems to occur to him that new energy, fresh purpose, and renewed joy could have come in a way that didn’t alienate the majority of station listeners and supporters that had been with KDHX in the past.
Wow ! That didn’t take long. Change is about as likely to occur as CPR would bring back King Tut. I’m sure the court may have a thing or two to say about this action. At least I hope they would.
