Mea Culpa
Ye Editor had a brain cramp and wrote in yesterday’s post that the KDHX auction was going to be Monday, June 2 when in actuality it was Friday, May 30. You may have heard KJOY won the bidding, and wants to pay $8.75 million dollars for the KDHX assets. Everything else in yesterday’s post was accurate, so remember, June 9 is the hearing for the judge to decide what happens next.
Our Statement
I'm sure many of you have already seen the St. Louis Post Dispatch article reporting on the winning bid for KDHX. (May 30, 2025) The bidding war was between K-LOVE and the parent company of Joy FM. Joy's parent company won the right to purchase the station for $8.75M. Wow ... $8.75M?!? I guess it's over because no way can a grass roots organization like LOVE of KDHX afford to compete with that kind of offer! Right? Isn't that what some of you are thinking?
Let us dispel that thinking right now because it's NOT EVEN REMOTELY TRUE.
What the result of the bidding war really means is that there are now TWO alternatives for the judge.
1. The judge may decide that the best thing for the community is to approve the sale to Joy FM.
OR ...
2. She can decide that the best thing to do is to approve the forthcoming offer from the LOVE of KDHX to restructure KDHX. Our plan would pay off the creditors AND put KDHX back into the hands of the community! KDHXv2
We at LOVE of KDHX haven't been fighting tooth and nail to return KDHX to its former glory through bulging pockets of cash.
No, we're fighting to convince the judge that the mission of KDHX was (and is) to be a community radio station.
KDHX was never competing with the large commercial radio stations in St. Louis for the biggest audience.
No... we were based on a mission to bring St. Louis a non-commercial oasis on the left of the FM dial. A station where community members were sharing their love of music and community events and arts with unique programming 24/7, 365-days a year.
On June 9, the next bankruptcy hearing will commence. We will ask the judge to consider our restructuring offer. We hope to bring KDHX back and we ask for your continued support as we reach this finish line!
Please consider joining the cause by donating or pledging at kdhxaliveandlocal.org.
Please write the judge and ask her to consider the loss that it would be to the St. Louis region if KDHX were to be removed from the airwaves. There's no time to wait. We have only 10 days left to convince the judge. Join us in this fight!
