The Vigil
The candlelight vigil on March 31 was well attended. Thanks to all who came out in support of the League of Volunteer Enthusiasts LOVE of KDHX. The entertainers were John Wendland, host of Memphis to Manchester, Gerard Erker, and Al Holliday, We heard the LOVE of KDHX anthem "Hey KDHX," written by Erker.. The speakers were Roy Kasten, Jean Ponzi, Ital K, Karen Aroesty, Courtney Dowdall and Rev. Santois Tucker who said many of his congregation and others are firmly behind LOVE of KDHX, financially & spiritually and told the crowd," Don't give up the cause." All talked about the importance of KDHX and what it means to the whole community. After the speakers everyone picked up a candle and marched around the Grand Center block attracting the attention of cars passing by and many honked horns in support. Beth Bombara, a singer, songwriter & resident of St. Louis finished up the evening with a moving rendition of "We Shall Overcome."
This is not over and we encourage all to support the cause to keep KDHX "Alive and Local" by going to www.kdhxaliveandlocal.org and contributing what you can. Thank You , W&W Volz
Open Letter to Community
To paraphrase a great Missourian, Mark Twain, “the reports of the death of KDHX are greatly exaggerated.”
We need your help in correcting a misperception that the sale of KDHX is a certainty. It is not. Two parties (Double Helix and K-Love, Inc) have agreed to a sale, but the bankruptcy judge has yet to approve any of this.
It is far from certain that she will.
The opposition to the sale of KDHX is well-organized and well-funded. And critical court dates approach. The community is rising to the occasion, and it is unwise to underestimate not only its passion, but its preparation.
All are resolved to “Keep KDHX Alive and Local,” and they are not simply singing hymns and making speeches. The broader St. Louis community has generously funded a legal war chest and assembled a robust legal team that has already successfully defended the voting rights of the Associate Members of KDHX as well as opposed the plans to sell KDHX assets in bankruptcy court.
Our team is well prepared to derail the ill-advised plans to sell the station and relegate it to an internet-only status. Scores of volunteers are raising funds from a groundswell of KDHX supporters to provide a convincing exit plan for consideration by the Court. This reorganization plan will be in the best interests of KDHX, its creditors, and all stakeholders. This plan will make KDHX whole and healthy again, without leaving a hole in the community.
Financial support is coming from all corners. This funding represents a serious challenge to the out-of-state media conglomerate that has underwritten one side in these bankruptcy proceedings and expects to be rewarded by stripping KDHX for parts and turning it into another corporate media outlet.
We like our chances.
We hope you will help us complete a story that has been only half-told thus far. This will be a proud moment for St. Louis. KDHX is a one-of-a-kind cultural treasure in this City, and its champions will not be deterred.

Donate On Down with Hound Dog Brown
The sale of 88.1 FM to K-LOVE is NOT a done deal. A better option is being presented to the bankruptcy court on April 16. We are the better option. We're increasing our Gofundme goal to $125,000.
With your help KDHX DJ Hounddog Brown will donate $5,000 in matching funds. Up to $100 of every Gofundme donation received will be matched. $50 donations become $100 donations, $100 = $200, $200 = $300, etc.
Hounddog is a founding member of LOVE OF KDHX, the host of Boogie On Down with Hound Dog Brown and later as a regular substitute on multiple KDHX programs until he was wrongfully terminated with 9 other KDHX volunteers on September 22, 2023. He is passionate about the cause of restoring democracy and accountability to KDHX and preserving the frequency.
