What's in a name? Everything! (or almost)
We're brainstorming for names for the new community radio station. You can help!
As you’ve probably heard, LOVE of Community Radio STL (that’s us, a motley band of volunteers dedicated to creating a new community radio station for St. Louis) is preparing to launch our new online radio station. This station will be a precursor to our FM radio station (that will take a little while, but fear not, it’s coming.)
We couldn’t be more excited.
The station will feature LIVE broadcasting with dozens of the voices you know and love from the glory days of KDHX. It will share all the eclectic music, culture, and information that only a true grassroots, community radio station can provide. We are currently building out the temporary studios at Lindenwood Park Place Social Club, assembling gear, creating a new program schedule, training volunteers, and planning events to welcome the community into the space and into the sounds. There’s a lot to do!
We haven’t quite set a date for the launch of the online station, but it’s coming soon.
We are also in the process of naming the new station. That’s where you come in. We’d love to hear your ideas. We are especially looking for names that capture the independent, creative, eclectic, and local-to-St.-Louis essence of community radio. (Call letters are fine, but those will probably come later.)
So leave a comment and let us know your ideas! Or you can share your ideas via this Google form.
Ready for Fanetti?
This Sunday, October 19, LOVE of Community Radio STL is proud to partner with Carondelet Living for Fanetti Fest Four! This free music festival features eight St. Louis bands performing on two stages in Fanetti Park, right across the street from Stacked STL Burgers in the Carondelet / Patch neighborhood (7637 Ivory St, St. Louis, MO 63111).
Music runs from Noon-7PM. Bands include: ComRad!, the River Company, Bruiser Queen, Midwest Avengers, Beth Bombara, Adam Gaffney, Turner Cody, Rough Shop and more. This is a free, day-long, family-friendly music event so bring your lawn chairs and coolers.
And don’t miss the car and motorcycle show hosted by Bruhy Body and Paint on Fanetti Plaza!
LOVE of Community Radio STL will have a booth set up with information and stickers. Come by and say hi and learn more about our efforts to build a new community radio station for St. Louis!
Upcoming LOVE events and spins
Tonight, veteran DJ and writer Rob Levy will be bringing the sounds of his great KDHX (RIP) show Juxtaposition to Taps & Tunes at 4 Hands downtown. 6pm-9pm. Come on out and play stump the DJ (jk — there’s no stumping Rob); a portion of your likely extensive beer tab will benefit LOVE. RSVP on Facebook.
On Saturday October 25, bobEE Sweet, John Wendland and Rich Reese — all former DJs of KDHX and future DJs of our new community radio station — will get you in the Halloween spirit (get it?) with an all vinyl Spin Spooktacular at The Royale from 6PM to close. This will be a scary good night at one of our favorite joints in town!
And a heads up to mark your calendars: Our RECORD FAIR takes place on Saturday, December 6 at Lindenwood Park Place Social Club (the site of our forthcoming studios).
Proceeds will benefit our efforts to launch a NEW community radio station in St. Louis. If you’d like to donate records or other musical goodies to the sale, get in touch!
The LOVE of Community Radio STL Record Fair will take place at the Lindenwood Park Place Social Club at 3460 Jamieson Ave. St. Louis, MO 63139.
Stay up to date on all of our events by following our Events section on our new website!
The Weekly Playlist
DJ Brian Lock (Of Universal Default) has the latest and greatest playlist of for you to spin. Read On!
From the DJ archive, we have an October 2022 show from Roy Kasten’s Feel Like Going Home program.
All our original playlists are built from scratch, but the titles are usually stolen. This week’s comes from the menu at Robert’s Western World in Nashville, where six bucks buys you a fried bologna sandwich, chips, a PBR, and a Moon Pie.
Recession Special is a mix for lean times: songs about stretching a dollar, dodging the landlord, getting laid off, and a little exposure to precious metals to hedge against inflation.
If you’re enjoying these weekly playlists, you don’t even know what you’re missing! Please consider supporting Community Radio of STL. Your donation helps support our efforts to revive authentic community radio in St. Louis.

LOVE of Community Radio STL is on Gofundme
Our first and most successful fundraising venture was our Gofundme, which launched two years ago. Since then we have raised over $82,000. Those donations helped back our legal fight to save KDHX (which proved impossible) and are now providing a foundation for building a new community radio station for St. Louis. Hundreds of you have supported us through Gofundme — we can’t begin to thank you enough!
Our Gofundme is still live, and you can still donate there — both one-time gifts and monthly donations. If you haven’t donated yet or want to make an additional gift, there’s no time like right now. Thank you for all that you do for community radio in St. Louis!
